ECC Coast and Cocktails: Nova Scotia Power CEO Rob Bennett

Atlantic Canada’s energy future was the hot topic in Toronto on September 9, 2010. Forte Bistro on Richmond Street held a full house of people eager to meet Nova Scotia Power CEO Rob Bennett. The executive was in town to showcase his company and attract investors, but also to discuss the future of electricity generation in the Atlantic region. On a sunny May 20th at Toronto’s Duke of Westminster, ECC members new and old were treated to an Atlantic Canadian original: Sons of Maxwell musician and internet sensation Dave Carroll. Speaking at ECC’s Coast and Cocktails as part of his tour of Canada, Carroll entertained the crowd with his “United Breaks Guitars” experience, explaining how his life has changed since then, and then performing several songs, much to the pleasure of the crowd. BNB uncovers a wealth of ideas during ECC’s policy roundtable

On March 31 in Toronto, East Coast Connected hosted a policy roundtable with Business New Brunswick, and Minister of Business of New Brunswick Greg Byrne. The organizers of the talks aimed to shine a light on New Brunswick’s business culture, and asked Atlantic Canadian professionals living in Toronto, as well as Toronto-based business professionals of all origins, what they thought could help stimulate investment and economic development in New Brunswick.   TORONTO - On Thursday, March 27th East Coast Connected hosted a private reception at the Spoke Club in Toronto for Liberal Industry Critic Scott Brison to discuss clean and green technology. Brison addressed a crowd of more than 50 people at the invitation only event, discussing the importance of green technology and renewable energy in Atlantic Canada. Brison highlighted the accomplishments and impact that Atlantic Canadians have made in business and policy; and the important leadership role Atlantic Canada has to play in championing the development of clean technology and green energy.
