Amherst NS native wins Nobel prize for physics

Not everyone gets a million dollar wake up call, but at 5 a.m. October 6th Willard S. Boyle received word that he’d won the Nobel prize in physics for developing the charge-coupled device (CCD). He shares honour and US$1.4 million with his colleague George Smith and Charles Kao, who won for his work on developing fibre optic technology. Read more

Former 19 year old mayor gets his recount in Paradise N.L.

Being Canada's youngest mayor for 36 hours and losing the title after a recount and name drawing didn't sit well with Kurtis Coombs. After the teenager and his mother made their request to the Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme court, a judge has ordered a second recount of municipal election results for the city of Paradise Newfoundland. Molson Coors CEO visits St. John's brewery
