NS and NB residents fight to save ferry

New Brunswick and Nova Scotia residents are banding together to save the Digby, NS and Saint John, NB from extinction. Government funding for the Bay Ferries service between the two provinces will terminate in 2010. The route, which shuttles tourist and goods, is a driver for economic development in the region, locals say, and they are preparing to battle for its survival. Read more

We all make 'em, but success at keeping our New Year's resolutions sometimes requires a little help, especially when it comes to getting in shape. A fitness fundraiser set for the end of January will help hundreds of Nova Scotians resolving to tone up and shed a few pounds to stay motivated through that all important first month of their commitment. Bringing working home to PEI

PEI based CGI has won an international, multi-million dollar contract competition that has brought 35 new positions to Stratford, a town east of Charlottetown. What makes this move unique is that rather than outsourcing the work to other countries, they will be importing workers who originally worked in India. Read more

Joel Plaskett brings it all back home to Lunenburg

2009 has been a massive year for Nova Scotia’s Joel Plaskett. After releasing the critically acclaimed triple album Three (MapleMusic), he opened for Paul McCartney on the Halifax Commons and toured through most of Canada’s finest theatres. Even with a record eight East Coast Music Award nominations announced earlier this month, this multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer found time for an intimate acoustic performance at the Pearl Theatre in Lunenburg NS right before the holiday season on December 12, 2009.
