U2 To End North American Tour in Moncton

On July 30, Magnetic Hill will draw thousands of fans as U2, Arcade Fire and Carney will perform in Moncton, New Brunswick. This is the legendary band's last North American tour date for the 360* tour, and first time ever producing a show in Atlantic Canada. The Magnetic Hill venue was originally constructed for Pope John Paul II's visit in 1984 and has hosted numerous outdoor concerts such as The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Bon Jovi.

Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc issued a statement saying:

"To host one of the biggest bands, on one of the biggest stages, as part of one of the biggest tours for their final North American date is an honour,"

The concert area will be retrofitted to accommodate the band’s stage. In CBC News Article, concert promoter Donald K. Donald commented on the rennovations to Magnetic Hall, saying that:

"There is no stadium big enough in Atlantic Canada so we will build one and they will come"

Local promoter Jeff Libert plans to even get some local NB talent on the bill. NB native Matt Anderson is one of Liberty's most successful acts  and in a a recent news article he says he plans to pitch Anderson, winner of 2 Maple Blues awards, to U2 management along with a DVD of his performance. Getting on a bill with U2 is not an easy task, but would catapult any rising star into high profile TV appearances and showcases in the US.

If you are considering booking a hotel room for the event, you had better act quickly. In anticipation of the announcement, hotel rooms in the area were already being booked last week with some hotels charging $379.

Tickets prices for the concert range from $29.50 - $275 and will go on sale February 8th at all Ticketmaster outlets.
