Fredericton native and Opera sensation Measha Brueggergosman received an honourary degree from St. Thomas University as the graduating class of 2009 looked on. The internationally renowned soprano shared the honour with her first vocal coach Mabel Doak.

“It’s all the more special that I get to receive it with Mabel Doak, who was a very important mentor for me in my early education, and is also a pillar of the Fredericton community," she said.

Officials from the University stated that the presentation was to reflect the relationship between students and teachers which also happens to be the theme of this year’s convocation.
