NSBI to support gaming company's expansion to Halifax

New York-based video game developer Longtail Studios is choosing Nova Scotia for its next level of growth. The company -- which has experience developing games for the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS -- is expanding to Halifax, with plans to create up to 60 new jobs over the next five years. The province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), is supporting the company's growth with a five-year payroll rebate to a maximum of $1,077,397.

Longtail Studios, established in 2003, is led by Gérard Guillemot, co-founder and director of Ubisoft Entertainment SA, the fourth largest video game publisher in the world. Known for such games as 'Grey's Anatomy the video game', 'TNA Wrestling' and Imagine: Sweet 16', Longtail studios has fought and maintained a serious reputation in the Industry in just six years. In fact the comapny has blossomed into four full blown develpment studios in New York City, Quebec City, Charlottetown, and now Halifax.

"In this industry, we're looking for creative individuals with the right education and technical skills, and we're confident we can find that here in Nova Scotia," said Mr. Guillemot, president, Longtail Studios. "This province is a great fit for us because it has the right mix of young, skilled people, a strong education system and competitive costs."
