Halifax named one of top 5 best Canadian cities for young knowledge workers
FUSION Halifax let us know about a recent study by Next Generation Consulting where Halifax was awarded 5th best place for young professionals to live and work. Halifax beat out Toronto, Calgary and Montreal:
“FUSION Halifax is absolutely delighted to see this city increasingly being recognized as a destination of choice for young talent to live, work, play and stay,” said Alyson Queen, Chair of FUSION Halifax. “Our work as a community on attraction, retention and repatriation of the next generation is far from complete, but we can seize this momentum to learn what other top cities are doing and expand our own activities.”
The NGC study is unique in that it factors in quality of life in its assessment, including social capital, pollution and health.
Other east coast cities that made the list are Saint John, NB at #15 and St. John's, NL at #18.
The rankings are:
- Victoria, British Columbia
- Ottawa, Ontario
- Vancouver, British Columbia
- Kingston, Ontario
- Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Toronto, Ontario
- Calgary, Alberta
- Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- London, Ontario
- Edmonton, Alberta
