East Coast Connected Gives to Toy Mountain

On Monday, December 15, the Toronto’s Eaton Centre was the site for giving instead of shopping, as members of East Coast Connected helped children in need.

Broadcasting live from the busy downtown mall, CTV anchor Tom Brown met with ECC’s Chris Crowell, along with members of the Harlem Globetrotters and many others, in support of Toy Mountain. Crowell presented many toys and a cheque for $500 on behalf of the members of ECC. Citing the feelings of ECC members now living in Toronto, Crowell said “We feel it’s really important to do a little part to give back to our new community.” Using the opportunity of a year-end celebration, ECC gathered toys and donations from generous members. This is ECC’s second year supporting Toy Mountain.

Toy Mountain, which donates unwrapped toys to less fortunate children in the Greater Toronto Area, is in dire need after a fire struck a Salvation Army facility in May 2008, destroying nearly 100,000 toys housed there. You can find out more about Toy Mountain at http://toronto.ctv.ca/toymountain/.
