Jun 13

St George's Round Church, 2222 Brunswick Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Choir of Saint George's Anglican Church, under the direction of Grammy award-winning musician Paul Halley, will perform its third annual “In the Round” concert, featuring choral music from the 16th to the 21st centuries. This year’s concert is centered on four pieces composed for double choir by Jacob Handl, Heinrich Schütz, William Harris and the contemporary “mystic” John Tavener. The program also includes pieces by Samuel Barber, Felix Mendelssohn and the renaissance Mexican composer, Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla. Several contemporary composers will also be featured in the program, including Benjamin Britten, Colin Mawby, Morten Lauridsen and Paul Halley.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Friends of Saint George's fund for supporting music at the church, which has one of the most active programs of church music in the country.

The concert is followed by a reception in the church hall.

Tickets: $25 adults, $15 students, $60 patron tickets (reserved seating), available from www.fsgsociety.org, Duly Noted on Brenton Street, and at the door.
