The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation makes venture capital investments in new, growth-oriented companies in New Brunswick, and specifically in the areas of energy, life sciences, knowledge industry, advanced manufacturing and value-added natural resources. The Foundation also funds commercially-driven applied research at a number of the province’s research institutes, colleges and universities. Founded in 2003 with $40 million in trust, the Foundation, along with other venture capital partners and agencies, have leveraged that to nearly $170 million in just five years. To be eligible for venture capital financing from the Foundation, applicants must agree to establish and operate their new business in the Province of New Brunswick, and encourages New Brunswickers living away to consider developing their innovative ideas here.
